CBT
A CBT course, which stands for ‘Compulsory Basic Training’, is a mandatory motorcycle training scheme, designed to teach beginner riders the essential skills needed to safely operate a motorcycle on public roads, before they can legally ride on their own.
A CBT covers basic manoeuvres like starting, stopping, turning and how to ride in different conditions, with a primary goal of ensuring a minimum level of competency before riding independently.
A CBT allows a rider to ride up to a 50cc with a provisional licence from 16 years of age and up to a 125cc from the age of 17, with a provisional or full licence.
The CBT course includes 5 elements:
Introductory talk
Practical on-site training
Practical on-site riding
Discussion on practical road riding
Minimum of 2 hours on road training
Training is from 9am and can normally be completed in one day or as part of the Full Licence training.
The cost for a CBT is £185.00 per day. The cost includes: motorcycle, safety equipment, comprehensive insurance, petrol and training.

You will need to bring:
Driving licence: photo card or paper licence with passport
Suitable clothing and footwear (helmets, jackets, gloves and waterproofs are provided)
A snack or cash for refreshments
If a CBT renewal, your old CBT certificate will need to be seen.
